The main thrusts of the Plant Breeding & Genetics Division has been the evolution and improvement of crop varieties endowed with high yield, wide adaptability, good quality, resistance/tolerance to biotic (diseases & pests) and abiotic (high temperature, drought & salinity) stresses. The continuous efforts over years have been successful in introducing 27 varieties of different crops. On significant achievements/contributions of the Plant Breeding & Genetics Division towards the national economy, the division has been honored by the decoration of T.I. and PoP by the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
